Radio frequency Microneedling

Radio frequency (RF) microneedling devices use specially insulated needles that deliver high-intensity radio frequency energy into the targeted tissue under your skin. This procedure gives a uniform warming effect to the deep tissue, which helps to stimulate new collagen fibers to grow (leading to significant improvement to skin quality and texture). The result is a minimal downtime (or none at all), and a nearly painless procedure that can significantly improve wrinkling, scars and skin laxity.

How to Prepare

It’s best to discontinue exfoliant products (such as salicylic acid and Retin-A®) one week before the procedure. Discontinuing other anti-inflammatory products is optional.

If you use Accutane®, you should stop using it six months before microneedling. If you have a history of fever sores, you should take an antiviral product (such as VALTREX™ or Zovirax®) two days before and continuing after treatment. Please inform your provider if you’re currently taking or have taken any blood-thinning medication, as it may increase bleeding or bruising during and after the procedure.

What to Expect

Side effects after microneedling are mild, resulting in minimal downtime after treatment. You’ll have mild pinpoint bleeding during and immediately after the procedure. Typically, you’ll only have redness and swelling for up to five days after the procedure. 

Moisturizer is applied immediately following RF microneedling. Usually, your skin is mildly red for about 24 hours. Most patients can resume their normal routines within a day.

Radiofrequency microneedling is a cosmetic procedure. It uses tiny needles and radiofrequency waves to rejuvenate facial skin.
